'Smart' Weapons
I don't know how this could be implimented ingame, so I'm going to propose all of my ideas (they are the same ones with different details).
First: Smart Weapon
A smart weapon is a weapon that your character holds, that 'remembers' all of the mods put on it, and can change back and forth between mods.
Second: Ways of getting one.
Smart weapons would obviously be very powerful. You would be able to change your sword from being that perfect Sundering/Lifesteal 15^50 HP+30 Elemental Sword to the perfect Droks runner swordwith +5 energy and HP+30.
So, getting this weapon would have to be somewhat hard.
Idea A) Trading your endgame reward (Book of Secrets/Amulet of the Mists) to a trader who will take a weapon of your choice, and make it a smart weapon. (Of course an endgame reward would have to be added to prophecies.)
Idea B) Paying a large sum of gold for a smart weapon. You would take a weapon to a trader pay a hefty price, and then your weapon would be a smart weapon.
Idea C) Only come from drops. This is my least favorite, but I'd rather have this in the game than not at all. They would only drop from creatures/chests.
Third: So, now what? How does it work?
So, now you have your smart weapon. For an example, lets say you have a Req 9 Elemental Sword. Its 15^50 3:1 and HP+30. But now, you are heading into an area full of creatures with a weakness to Earth.
It'd work like the PvP weapon/armor creation screen. You'd hit J, and a pannel would open up with all the mods and inscriptions ever attatched to your sword, you'd select them, and then hit create, and now you have Ele sword with Earth damage 15^50 and HP+30.
Well, thats my idea, sorry if it is confusing.

Personally I think it'd wreck the market for mods.
It's fairly easy to beat Factions and get an endgame reward (i beat it in ~22 hrs)

this would save a lot of time and money for casual players but this isnt a big deal for hardcore/farming players
great idea though. Id defiantly get one.

Yeah, thats true. Both points. IDK about how to fix the first one, but for the Factions one, maybe make it a requirement to do both Kurzick and Luxon sides?

It would actually increase the market for mods, as atm its usually cheaper to buy greens than buying fortitude mods etc. Even if people now only need to buy that mod once, the increased amount of people wanting to buy mods will outweigh this and thus there will be an increased demand for mods.
However I do see this wrecking to market for rare skin weapons; as if everything was now 'smart' or they were a rare drop then the only thing wanted would be req9. Similarly if 'smart weapons' where a endgame reward then the demand for rare skin weapons would almost completely disappear.

Dear God no! Forcing people to do a 10,000 Faction Point farm is already bad enough - forcing them to do two would be awful.
It also wouldn't add that much length to the game - maybe an extra 2 hours?

sorry didn't explain
of (species) slaying and being able to swap form Tenguslaying to Demonslaying when an Oni pops up so (quite likly ment from the PvP reference but not stated) they sould only be changable in Town/Outposts

Basically the 'smart armor' idea for weapons.
People would pick their fevourite skin, and then put all mods in it, instead of making some sets and getting the inveptry filled of them... hm...
Hard to make, not very possible to happen, but I'd like it.
I wuld love to be able to have always a Gothic axe and a Gothic Defender with my Warrior.
